The Combat Application Tourniquet™ (C-A-T™) is a compact tourniquet system for the temporary occlusion of blood flow in the extremities.
The C-A-T features an individual size adjustment so that it can be applied to all extremities, combined with a one-handed windlass system.
The windlass system uses a freely movable inner band to stop the inflow of arterial blood to an extremity. To secure the windlass rod, all you need is
one movement: the C-A-T™ has a hook-and-loop closure to hold the rod securely in place during transport.
The C-A-T™ may only be used on adults in an emergency and only by trained personnel.
This method should only be used if there are no other options for stopping the bleeding and the situation is life-threatening. As soon as the arterial bleeding has stopped, secure the windlass rod of the C-A-T™.
