The Universal Strobe Battery Pack (USBP) is a powerful power supply unit for night vision devices. It is connected to the night vision device via a Fischer port (or other connectors with a suitable adapter) and provides a stable, external energy source for longer operations at night.

Thanks to its ergonomic design, the Battery Pack can be attached to the back of the helmet. It also acts as a counterweight and relieves the head and neck during long wearing times. In addition, the system features integrated IR strobes for friend-or-foe identification and for search and rescue (SAR) operations.

Key features

Robust, operationally optimised housing

The housing is made of a special, patented polymer material with high resistance to heat and mechanical stress. It is dust-tight and waterproof in accordance with the IP67 standard and is therefore also suitable for extreme operating environments.

  • Fire-resistant and impact-resistant housing
  • IP67 protection class – dust-tight and waterproof
  • Suitable for use in harsh climatic conditions

Intelligent electronics with protective functions

The Battery Pack runs on AA batteries. An integrated protection circuit safeguards the system against short circuits and voltage spikes. At the same time, the system automatically regulates the output voltage according to the charge level of the batteries.

  • Automatic voltage regulation
  • Protection against short circuit and overvoltage
  • Operation with commercially available AA batteries

IR strobe with tactical added value

Two integrated IR strobes ensure effective identification at night. These are particularly helpful for recognition by allied ground and air units and can be operated reliably even when the battery level is very low. If required, the system can also be used as a stand-alone IR strobe – independent of a night vision device.

  • Visible IR signals for friend-or-foe identification
  • Supports SAR operations (Search and Rescue)
  • Operation possible even with an almost empty battery
  • Can be used on its own as an IR strobe unit

Areas of application

  • Power supply for tactical night vision devices
  • Counterweight and balancer for helmet mounting
  • IFF signalling in military or police operations
  • IR marking in search and rescue operations
  • Ideal for longer operations with increased energy requirements
